If you use ArvanCloud Object Storage, the API will be the primary tool for communicating and managing information in this storage space. However, with some settings, you can connect to this storage without using API and view and manage the data easily on your operating system. These settings can be done in different ways in different operating systems and with the help of various tools. For example, on the Linux operating system, this connection can be made with the use of the S3FS or s3cmd tools, and on the Windows operating system, this is possible with the help of tools such as S3Browser, CloudBerry Explorer, and TntDrive. Using these tools, your bucket will be entirely manageable on your Windows or Linux operating system, and you can quickly and graphically delete, add or move your files through their user interfaces.

In this technical guide, we will examine the method of connecting an ArvanCloud bucket to a Windows drive and managing files, sharing drives, and controlling access in this tool, using the TntDrive tool. This tool is one of the most straightforward environments for managing Object Storage. One of the advantages of TntDrive is the possibility of creating a drive for each bucket in the user account, which makes it possible to manage and move files easily. Also, the most significant advantage of this software is its Auto Sync feature, which minimizes the complexity of the work.

How to Connect ArvanCloud Object Storage to a Drive in Windows with TntDrive

To get started, download the software from the TntDrive website. Next, run TntDrive and click on the Add New Account option in the Accounts tab to make the initial settings. Next, in the Account Type section, select S3 Compatible Storage and then fill in the Accesskey, Secretkey, and REST Endpoint options using the information provided in the dashboard of Object Storage of the ArvanCloud user panel.

After adding user account information, click Add New Mapped Drive to display a page similar to the one below. In this step, select the desired bucket name in the Amazon S3 Bucket section. Also, in this section, you can change the name of the selected drive.

If the settings up to this point are done correctly, a drive will be added to TntDrive and Windows. In this way, you have a manageable drive on the Windows operating system at your disposal, with the help of which you can easily use ArvanCloud’s features and Object Storage.

How to Share the Drive

After connecting, you may need to share the mounted drive with others on the network. With the help of this feature, other devices connected to the network can access the data located in the Object Storage without having to make settings.

For this, it is enough to click on the Edit option in the TntDrive program and then on the Advanced Properties option, and on the next page, select the Allow Access from Local Network option.

After making these settings, the mounted drive will be available on your network. To check the correctness of the settings, you can open this drive and view or move the information through one of the devices connected to the network.

How to Create a Read-Only Drive on the ArvanCloud

If you need to change the access to the data placed on the Object storage in the form of Read-Only, that is, the mode where it is impossible to change and delete files, you must run the TntDrive software first and go to the Edit section. Next, click the Advanced Properties option and select the Mount as Read-Only Media option on the next page.

If the settings are done correctly, the following error will be displayed in case of changes made by people connected to the network.
